The program is designed to stretch your potential and prepare you for a career in marketing technology.
In your first year as a MarTech Trainee, the focus is on personal development and building strong foundations. You will:
Alongside technical skills, you will also work on soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and consulting. This balance ensures you grow into a well-rounded professional.
From the very beginning, you will be part of live client projects. You will support consultants on tasks such as platform implementations, data management, integrations, and campaign setup. As your knowledge grows, so will your responsibilities.
By the end of Year 1, you will be a daily user of the tools and confident enough to contribute to client projects. This prepares you for your next step: becoming a Chapman Bright Certified Junior MarTech Specialist (CJMTS) in Year 2.
It is difficult to capture a “typical” day as a trainee at Chapman Bright, because no two days are the same. My role and responsibilities have grown a lot over time, so each month looks different from the last.
In general, I balance my time between certifications, project work, and personal development. That means studying for exams, supporting consultants on client projects, and setting aside time for coaching on both soft and hard skills. For example, I work with Jacques on specific competencies I want to improve, and I also spend time sharpening my technical skills through training and tutorials.
When I first started, most of my time was focused on learning the foundations of Marketo Engage and preparing for certification. As my skills developed, I began applying that knowledge directly in client projects. I now support with activities such as setting up marketing automation programs, creating assets, working with data, and helping to analyze and report on results.
Here’s an example of what one of my days might look like:
No two days are exactly the same, and that is what makes the traineeship exciting. The mix of learning, contributing to real projects, and growing step by step gives me both confidence and energy.
