Chapman Bright Academy

Traineeship program - Year 1

Ambitious and high-potential master graduates in marketing, business, or equivalent are encouraged to apply for our traineeship to stretch the limits in marketing technology.

This is a two-year Traineeship, with the first year being a MarTech Trainee. In this year, you will focus on personal development and acquiring a lot of knowledge in our field. You will develop your skills regarding the basics of Marketing and Sales to get started. Other than that, you will get certified in several programs, like Adobe’s Marketo Engage, Google and more. In addition to the focus on personal development, you will be working on several projects in the course of this year. This will give you a first impression of what it’s like to work as a specialist/consultant at Chapman Bright. You’ll support the consultants on different aspects of their work. Think about Marketo implementations, data management, integrations etc.

At the end of this year, you will have gained enough knowledge to be able to work more independently. However, we believe it is very important for you to have the opportunity to develop yourself in the best possible way, which you will have the chance to do in year 2. You will then move on to being a Certified Junior MarTech Specialist (CJMTS).

Britt Verwater - MarTech Trainee "Since starting the traineeship, I've gained so much knowledge. I'm supporting the consultants in projects and delivering high quality work. I'm really looking forward to develop myself even more in the coming year!"

Overview of the first year

A day in the life of Rosie, a Chapman Bright MarTech Trainee

It’s a challenge to properly represent what a day in the life of a trainee at Chapman Bright is really like because here no day is like the other. However, I will do my best to give a good example. Before I do though, it’s important to note that as the months have gone on, my days have changed a lot due to my increasing involvement and responsibilities in projects.

In a general sense, I spend my days balancing my time between obtaining certifications, working on projects, and making sure I reserve some time to reflect on my own development regarding both hard and soft skills. For example, work on soft skills includes coaching sessions with Jacques where we work together on specific competencies that I’ve chosen to focus on and improve. And work on hard skills includes watching YouTube tutorials about how to create the infamous pivot table in Excel.

Most recently I spent quite a few hours working on RingLead and going through their ‘university’ program which I really enjoyed and was able to successfully complete it within two weeks. Because the Traineeship program is not fixed in stone and therefore allows and encourages flexibility, I was able to schedule my RingLead certification to occur at the same time I was working on data management projects. This was perfect because as I was learning how to use RingLead, I was also helping set it up for Chapman Bright as well as for a client which gave the opportunity to apply what I had learnt right away.

Within the first few months of the Traineeship, I spent a lot more of my time exploring Marketo and learning how to use it, but now that I have been certified and a daily user for several months I spend most of my time actually working in client’s instances and doing things like setting up programs, marketing automation processes, and assets. More recently, with my data management projects I have been working a lot more in the database doing analyses, and setting up reports which has been really good fun.

Here’s an example of what a day for me could look like:

08:00: Get the day started at the office or at home with a coffee, checking emails and reviewing my planning for the day
09:00: Review development planning and make sure I’m on track, dedicate time to learning and practicing in RingLead and Excel
11:00: Set up data management programs in Marketo for DHL Express and adjust documentation for it
12:00: Lunch
12:30: Continue setting up data management programs
13:00: Meeting with colleague to review data management programs, explain what I did and explore leftover questions
14:00: Client meeting regarding data management project
15:00: Set up Dynamic Chat reports for Lely Germany
16:00: Meeting with colleague to review the Dynamic Chat reports
16:30: Go home or if I’ve worked from home then close my laptop
